How to cancel a hair-loss subscription without paying for one more shipment (2026)
Every clinic in the index lets you cancel online, but the timing decides whether you are billed again. Here is each clinic's published cancellation policy, the shipment cycles that catch people out, and what to do if a charge lands after you cancelled.
Short answer: every subscription clinic in this index lets you cancel from your own account, and none of them publishes a cancellation fee. What catches people is timing: a quarterly plan bills three months at once, and cancelling the day after a renewal usually means that shipment is already paid for. Cancel at least a few days before the next renewal date, and take a screenshot of the confirmation.
Every clinic's published policy
| Clinic | Cancellation | Billing cycle | What to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ro (Roman) | Cancel anytime, including after the first order | Monthly or quarterly, no commitment | The most permissive terms in the index. |
| Keeps | Pause or cancel anytime from your account, no cancellation fee | Billed every 3, 6 or 12 months; each shipment is a 3-month supply | Longer commitments are discounted and harder to leave mid-term. A 180-day money-back guarantee was introduced in 2026, with conditions. |
| Hims | Cancel from your account | Monthly or quarterly plans | No refunds on opened medication. The advertised price is the longest commitment, so the cheapest plan is also the least flexible. |
| Hers | Cancel anytime | Subscription | Same parent company as Hims; check which items are prescription and which are over the counter. |
| Happy Head | Pause, skip or cancel anytime | Monthly subscription | "Skip" is often the better option if you simply have stock left. |
| Lemonaid Health | Cancel anytime | 3 months delivered at a time | The introductory price covers the first three-month supply; the second shipment is the one that doubles. |
| Strut Health | Cancel anytime (confirm refund terms) | 30-day supplies with 90-day refill options | A $40 physician fee applies if you move the prescription to a pharmacy other than Strut's preferred one. |
| Musely | Confirm in current terms | Starts with a 3-month supply paid up front | Paid up front, so cancelling does not recover the current quarter. |
| XYON Health | Confirm in current terms | Subscription or one-time purchase | A one-time purchase avoids the question entirely. |
| MangoRx | Confirm in current terms | 30, 60 or 90-day tins | Terms not published in one place at the last check. |
| Oana Health | Confirm in current terms | Not published | Prices themselves come from Oana's blog rather than a checkout page. |
| Dr. B | Nothing to cancel | One-off consult, 90-day prescriptions | No subscription exists, which is the point of the model. |
Where a row says "confirm in current terms", it means the clinic did not publish a plain cancellation policy where we could find one at the last check. That is not an accusation of bad faith; it is a reason to read the terms before you subscribe rather than after.
The four things that actually cost people money
- Cancelling just after a renewal. Quarterly billing means three months leave your account at once. Find the next renewal date in your account and cancel a few days before it, not on the day.
- Prepaid multi-month plans. Six and twelve-month plans are cheaper per month and are usually not refunded pro rata. Take the discount only if you are sure you will finish the course, and remember that these treatments only work while you take them.
- Confusing "pause" with "cancel". Pausing keeps the subscription alive and it will resume. If you are stopping treatment, cancel; if you have three tubes in a drawer, pause.
- Moving the prescription. One clinic charges a fee if you have the prescription sent to a different pharmacy. If you are leaving because you found cheaper tablets elsewhere, check that first.
If you are charged after cancelling
Keep the confirmation email or a screenshot of the cancelled status; it is the only evidence you will have. Contact the clinic's support first and quote the date. If that fails, a chargeback through your bank is the backstop, and card issuers generally expect you to have tried the merchant first. If a clinic's published policy on this site is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will re-check it and log the correction in the changelog.
Before you cancel, one question
If you are stopping because of the price rather than the treatment, the price is worth checking first: the gap between the cheapest and most expensive clinic for the same generic finasteride is about $240 a year. The cheapest list and the calculator will tell you in a minute whether moving is cheaper than stopping. If you are stopping because of a side effect, that is a conversation for the clinician who prescribed it, not a cancellation button.
Where to go next
- Cheapest oral finasteride, if you are moving rather than stopping.
- What a year actually costs, clinic by clinic.
- Compare any two clinics before you switch.
